From the Directors Desk:
Because of the declining economy, the Christian
Help Center has become a vital part of the heart of Person County.
In the midst of the present recession, our churches, civic
groups, businesses and individuals of this county continue to be
committed to providing food, clothes, and funds to help our
brothers and sisters who are in emergency need due to
layoffs, disabilities, shutdowns, or other income losses.
As Director of the Center, I personally say “thank you” to
our many generous financial supporters, food and
clothes donors, and to the dedicated volunteers
who serve daily in the clothes closet, food pantry, and soup
kitchen.
Numbers for those needing help seem
to increase weekly. In order to help more families in a small way,
the Board of the Christian Help Center has placed caps and stricter
frequency limits on financial support. We
are able to help with food and clothes only once per month and with
utility assistance or rent only once per year.
If your church or group would like
to learn more about the services of the Christian Help Center,
one of our staff members, a board member,
or the director will gladly come and share
this information with you. Just call the Center
at (336) 599-6070 and extend the invitation.
The employees of the Christian Help
Center are dedicated to being good stewards over the funds and other
items received. Please continue to donate
non-perishable foods, seasonal clothes, toiletries, household items,
and funds. View our WEB page quarterly for
updates. We do not know what the future holds,
but we do know who holds the future. We are
looking forward to a warm and prosperous spring.
God’s blessings to you.
Mary Stanfield, Director
